Composer, guitarist and trumpeter, Rhys Chatham is a key figure in the New York music and no wave scene, having combined minimalist tones with the energy of punk rock.
He is known in particular for his “guitar orchestras”, where he conducts dozens or even hundreds of guitarists.
Founder of the group Vortex (Les Disques du Soleil et de l’Acier) in the early 90s, Nico Guerrero is a French experimental guitarist working on the electro-acoustic possibilities generated by the electric guitar. Filtered through a chain of effects and reverb, the massive, overtone-rich sounds build a deep, hallucinatory sonic space.
In the friendly space of the Ofr gallery, they will present their new ongoing project on Friday November 20 at 6:00 p.m.
Rhys will be on trumpet, guitar in Pythagorean intonation, transverse alto and bass flutes and flute in C, and Nico on electric guitar and electronic processing.
